Chicken Manchurian Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Balls:
  • 500g boneless chicken, minced or finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour (cornstarch)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
For the Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 bell pepper (capsicum), diced
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour (cornstarch) mixed with 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Spring onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

For the Chicken Balls:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the minced chicken, ginger-garlic paste, soy sauce, chili sauce, cornflour, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.

  2. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties.

  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken balls in batches and fry until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Set aside.

For the Sauce:
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onions, diced bell pepper, and green chilies. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.

  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste to the pan and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. Stir in the soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, and vinegar. Mix well to combine.

  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornflour with water to make a slurry. Pour the cornflour slurry into the pan while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.

  5. Cook the sauce for a few minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Add the fried chicken balls to the sauce and gently toss until they are evenly coated with the sauce.

  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot.

Enjoy your delicious Chicken Manchurian with steamed rice or noodles for a satisfying meal!
