French Toast

French Toast Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (thick slices work best, like brioche or French bread)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Butter or oil, for cooking
  • Maple syrup, fruit, or powdered sugar, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract (if using), and ground cinnamon (if using) until well combined. This mixture will be your custard for soaking the bread.

  2. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter or oil to coat the pan.

  3. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 10-15 seconds on each side. Be sure to coat both sides evenly, but don't let the bread become too soggy.

  4. Place the soaked bread slices onto the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  5. Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a plate and repeat with the remaining slices of bread.

  6. Serve the French toast warm with your choice of toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.

  7. Enjoy your delicious homemade French toast!

Feel free to customize your French toast by adding toppings like sliced bananas, berries, chopped nuts, or a dollop of whipped cream. It's a versatile dish that's perfect for breakfast or brunch!
